How to Use Your Scholarship at MusiKidz

What is Step Up for Students?

Step Up for Students is the Florida nonprofit that administers the state’s K-12 education choice scholarships. Families manage their scholarship funds in an online account called EMA (Education Market Assistant), where they can pay approved providers directly or request reimbursement for eligible expenses.

Which scholarships can pay for piano and voice lessons?

Under the 2026-27 Step Up purchasing guides, music lessons are an authorized “electives and enrichment” expense for all four scholarship programs:

• FES-UA – Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities

• PEP – Personalized Education Program (students not enrolled full time in a public or private school)

• FTC – Florida Tax Credit Scholarship

• FES-EO – Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options

FTC and FES-EO funds pay private school tuition and fees first; lessons can be covered from any remaining balance. Scholarship amounts vary by county and grade level, and eligibility is determined by Step Up for Students, not by MusiKidz.

What’s covered at MusiKidz Piano Studio

• Private piano lessons (30 or 60 minutes) for K-12 students

• Private voice lessons (30 or 60 minutes) for K-12 students

• Lessons in our Fort Myers studio, in your home (Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, Naples and Lehigh Acres), or online via Zoom

• Beginner to advanced levels through our First Note, Rising Star and Center Stage programs

How it works

1. Get funded. Apply at stepupforstudents.org and make sure your student’s EMA account shows available funds for the current school year.

2. Book a trial lesson. Call (786) 306-4558 or book online so we can match your child with the right program and schedule.

3. Pay with your scholarship. Log in to EMA and go to Marketplace › Find Providers to pay MusiKidz Piano Studio directly from your student’s account, with no out-of-pocket cost. If you prefer to pay us directly, we will give you an itemized invoice that you can submit in EMA for reimbursement.

4. Start making music. Lessons are available Monday to Friday from 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Frequently asked questions

Can adults use Step Up funds? No. The scholarships are for K-12 students only. Adult lessons are still available at our regular rates.

Can we use the scholarship for online lessons? Yes. Live online lessons through Zoom are covered the same way as studio and in-home lessons.

Is MusiKidz affiliated with Step Up for Students? No. MusiKidz Piano Studio is an independent music studio and a participating provider. Eligibility rules, scholarship amounts and eligible expenses are set by Florida law and Step Up for Students policies and can change each school year, so always check the current Purchasing Guide in EMA.
